Swami Vallalar and his teachings on Jothi
Swami Ramalingam (Vallalar) taught that, by the grace of Jyothi, the soul and the body both undergo a spiritual transformation. He believed that when the body no longer depends on the sense organs to function, it becomes pure. The soul lives in the body and when the soul becomes sacred, so does the body become purified. Container and content both become pure and sacred. Because of this spiritual transformation, the body becomes a divine Golden Immortal Body. Vallalar attained immortality and his body dematerialised into Jyothi. In this way he could continue his divine presence among his disciples and those that seeked him and his guidance and grace.
Vallalar realized the Golden Immortal Body a few years before his body dematerialised into the Light. The process of merging with the Divine started with what he called ‘God’s Hug’. He used this term to describe the descent of the Grace Light into his heart. He surrendered himself completely to become the way for the Light to manifest on Earth and to all living beings. The Grace Light thus resided in his heart eternally and gradually transformed his body into an immortal Body of Light.
This then serves as confirmation that the path of the heart is the path that leads to the achievement of the Golden Immortal Body. Neither the path of the third eye, as followed by the yogis, nor the path of wisdom and knowledge, will lead to the manifestation of the Golden Body.
The following are the last words of Swami Ramalingam before he dematerialised :
‘Till now I had been personally guiding you by words; but none of you has reached the conditions of Purity indicated by me. I had kept the doors opened, but none has come to receive from me. Now I close them. Nevertheless, I will mould you (by purification) and if it is not possible (because the disciple puts up resistance) I will shape you in a ‘cooking pot’ (that is, by giving pressure on disciple’s consciousness through the circumstances if it should be necessary). Now I am in this body. In the future I will enter into all the bodies. I will be universally present and wherever you go I will be there to mend or purify you, don’t fear.'
'I kept the doors opened, but none came to receive from me. I close the doors now. To receive the Divine Grace, worship the Divine with feelings of Compassion and remember He who is present in this Lamp of Light. After having passed an hour, I will not be visible to your eyes, but I will be universally present in this world and in all the other worlds. Then, when the God of Vast Grace Light comes, I will come in this form of body and perform many miracles. I will govern with the sceptre of Divine Grace and I will give the boon of Deathless Body to those who have the right Inner Knowledge and condition of Purity to others. If still being the door closed, government agents come and order to open it, God will prevent by his Grace.’
This is how Swami Ramalingam (the Vallalar) describes the manifestation of the Golden Body (suddha deham):
'All the bones having become soft, all the tendons having lost their grip on the body system / The entire blood having congealed inside, the semen and sexual fluids having ascended to the chest and condensed into a supra-energy form / The cerebral hemispheres having expanded same as a flower blossoms, the delightful elixir (nectar) having flowed throughout the body system and filled it up / The whole body having become cool, the respiration having turned into imperceptible / Arising from my heart to blossom all souls, Oh my unique love! / Oh my unique love! By giving yourself to me, you have transmuted me through the Compassionate Light / Oh my unique love! You have brimmed in me as the cool ambrosial fare (nectar)'.
